Samsung Omnia i900 - ActiveSync and Productivity

Upgraded the firmware as I noted that the camera is taking very bad pictures. The auto mode on white balance does not produce the color tones. In fact, as I stated in my feedback to Samsung; that the pictures produced such whitish colors as if the people are 'dead'! This is unfortunate, as the output is worst than my previous Nokia N73. After the firmware changed (PHONE/PDA: i900DXHJ1/DZHJ1), the pictures from the camera is a lot closer to the original color tones. This is the good news. The bad news is obviously that I have to reinstall all the files and external programs. The ActiveSync initially would not work, and I went to Samsung at Vivocity (Singapore) to talk to the folks there. Finally got it working again, where I can synchronize with my Outlook, where all the phone database is. I cannot sync with the server, as the corporate server is highly secured. The synchronization of the phone and Outlook (my work "portal") is the key to ensuring I have the critical d

Samsung Omnia i900 - GPS

The GPS software provided in Samsung Omnia in Singapore is from Agis (http://www.asiagis.com.sg). I have another of it in a dedicated GPS as well. While well known places are easily located, less familiar places are not. Yesterday, I went to Eunos Avenue 7, and when I made a wrong turn at Avenue 5, it took the Omnia quite a bit of time to recompute. I was not impressed. I am not sure whether it is the phone or the software. Nevertheless, having a GPS inside the phone is a great help, as I had just loaned my dedicated GPS to a friend who went with his family to Melaka. Compared to my GPS purchased from Innovasia; the Omnia takes a long time to get the GPS signal. This is rather unfortunate. I am not sure on the reasons at this point. Will a GPS make one lazy not to use his brain? This is a question that readers can comment.

Samsung Omnia i900 - My Device Memory

The Omnia boasts of 8G and 16G of memory space, in addition to a storage card of 1G. With such huge memory available, you would have thought that you will never face lack of it in your mobile phone. Unfortunately, unless you are very conversant with IT (information technology), you will find messages in Omnia telling you that you have lack of critical memory and will not receive SMS etc. The fact is that the resident memory in "My Device" is only about 100M for both storage and program. It is the storage that you need to watch out, as the "In Use" memory goes up very quickly to zero, making it impossible for you to receive SMS and even switch on your camera! After searching the internet for awhile, I found that the quickest and easiest way to ensure your storage in "My Device" is enough to do your normal work, is to delete the files inside your cache, if you had been using the browser, "Opera". Go to Program/File Explorer/My Device/Application Da
