Change and More Changes

Last week, I had yet another farewell lunch for two colleagues, whom I have known for a long time. There have been too many of such lunches in these past couple of years. They marked the changing of culture in a company, famed for its care for its employees then. How things have changed! And it will continue to change.

Like Darwin's theory on evolution, one has to adapt to the changes as a part of the cycle ends(ending phase) and move through a period of uncertainty (neutral phase) before emerging into a new environment (new beginning phase). Life will continue to be a series of minor and major changes. The lesson in life to live a good life is to take the changes as they come as part of the corporate life cycle.

For entrepreneur, the water will certainly be more choppy. I have seen my brother emerging from losing almost all, rebuilding the wealth and back to business as usual, at least for a while. He is living a good life and enjoying it. I have learnt much from his experience.

"Let go" as the principle in buddhism is very apt. There is no point "crying over spilt milk" but rather look at the positive side of life, and "move on". There is always "light at the end of the tunnel" or a "silver lining" in everything we experienced. One can look at the "glass, as half empty or half full."

Living a good life is about having good time with the family, friends and the society around us. Move forward as there are exciting challenges ahead to forget the past.

Samsung Omnia i900 - ActiveSync and Productivity

Upgraded the firmware as I noted that the camera is taking very bad pictures. The auto mode on white balance does not produce the color tones. In fact, as I stated in my feedback to Samsung; that the pictures produced such whitish colors as if the people are 'dead'! This is unfortunate, as the output is worst than my previous Nokia N73. After the firmware changed (PHONE/PDA: i900DXHJ1/DZHJ1), the pictures from the camera is a lot closer to the original color tones. This is the good news. The bad news is obviously that I have to reinstall all the files and external programs. The ActiveSync initially would not work, and I went to Samsung at Vivocity (Singapore) to talk to the folks there. Finally got it working again, where I can synchronize with my Outlook, where all the phone database is. I cannot sync with the server, as the corporate server is highly secured. The synchronization of the phone and Outlook (my work "portal") is the key to ensuring I have the critical d...

The Attitude of Happiness

Happiness is a mental exercise. It is twist and turn of events that influence this state of mind. Now I am happy, and tomorrow I can be unhappy. Why is this so? Why can't I be happy always? Unlikely that this will happen, because it takes pain to understand joy and fear to understand bravery. There is night and day and like the harmonic motion, there will be ups and downs. The challenge is whether I can smile when I am down, and laugh when I am up. In the mental exercise, can I twist and smile; turn and smile as well? Am I able to accept the "unpleasant events" and let that emotional turmoil goes away to let time heal the wound? Like a stream flowing down, am I able to flow along with it, instead of resisting the current?
