Staying at the Phuket Marriot was a suggestion of our friends who are members of the Phuket Beach Club. It came just as I failed to get my Japan vacation plan to work, as I could not get tickets for the period I wanted. And so we went on Tiger Air, a budget airline that operates out of Budget Terminal in Singapore.
Purchasing tickets and communicating with JW Marriot to set up the 4 days 3 nights trip was a breeze, thanks to the internet. My last visit was 15 years ago, and so with the help of Google Search and some books borrowed from the library, the vacation plan was hatched and discussed with the family.
From the JW Marriot website, the hotel appears truly beautiful. However, I am weary of marketing photo-shots which only show the consumers the best angle. However, when we arrived at the reception, and gazing out into the sea; the scene was as marvellous as that picture in the website!
The hotel room was clean and cozy and we had our breakfasts at the balcony. The beach is pristinely clean and stretch as far as my eyes could see on either side. The natural landscape is welcoming to walk about and the facilities are planned to make a family vacation truly pleasurable.
We took a boat out with Geoff and Jenny who decided to get away from the corporate world and do something which they are passionate with, and this is boat to them. I got their contact from TripAdvisor. My family taking a shot as we came by those marvellous limestone islands. This is their website: http://www.simbaseatrips.com/main_english.htm
Phuket Town is definitely very different from Patong. The former scene is calm compared to what you will experience in Patong in the evening. I suppose they give you the balance between laid back and go-go attitude.
I notice that there are many good art shops as we entered into Patong, and I was tempted to purchase a couple. Claudine is shown at an art shop in Patong.
In short, a vacation is for us to unwind and to "live in the present". To live routinely is not vacation. The word, in my mind connotes, the "vacating" of our thoughts about everything that bothers us, and just let nature seeps into our marrow to rejuvenate our tired bodies and cluttered minds.
It is an art to "vacate" the mind, and let it be "still". Ha... the waves are coming in, and the sound so soothing. The wind blows softly, ruffling the little hair left on my head, telling me to relax, relax and unwind.
